Flemington –
R2: Team McEvoy have So Unusual absolutely flying at the moment, coming off 3 wins from just as many starts, has the draw to do no work and should be around the mark down the straight. Waller and Kah combine on Timour and look dangerous in this race, made ground late in last start here at Flemington.
Tip: So Unusual – $2.50
R3: Kallos returns from a spell and has won previously when first up, Kah onboard for the ride only helps it’s chances. On The Lead also returns to racing, with his last race being on Australia Day. Loves a dry track and is drawn perfectly. Don’t dismiss Tycoon Hummer, 3 of 4 wins has come on dry ground.
Tip: On The Lead -$3.60
Tycoon Hummer (Place): $3.10
R7: Jacquinot looks like the best horse here. Coming off 2 wins from just as many starts (although one was a protest), she should win this but the only query is never having run the mile before. Elliptical looks to be fitter now and the mile should suit to a tee. Sure to run a big race here. Look for Legarto to be storming home late, coming off a 42 day break but has won 4 of her last 5 and Michael Dee will help onboard.
Tip: Legarto (Each way) – $13/$3.50
Randwick
R3: Learning To Fly is the one to beat here. Clearly the best 2yo we’ve seen this season, should round them up late. Small field only helps claims.
Tip: Learning to Fly – $1.80
R5: Money has come in late for Economics with JMac abord, colt from the Neesham stable. Felix Majestic also resuming after a 3 months break and has been back in late from $20-12, has been trialling well in the lead up. Willinga Beast has never raced on a dry track so has the potential to explode here and blitz the field.
Tip: Willinga Beast – $7.50
R6: Great race here with many chances. Everest winner, Giga Kick returns to racing and although he gets back in the field, expect him to be swooping on them late. Eduardo has been given a good break and should be a strong performer based on recent trials. Should land on speed and be tough to run down. Remarque looks to be a completely different horse since being gelded. He should enjoy the 1000m and the hard ground today.
Tip: Giga Kick – $3.00
R7: Great to see NZ superstar Imperatriz racing here at Randwick, coming off a dominating win in the G1 Waikato Sprint at Te Rapa last start. Looks to be the class horse in this race and the money agrees. The James Cummings trained 2 year old Golden Mile also commands respect, has been freshened up and prepared for this race. Artorius returns from Europe having run well without winning any G1 races.
Tip: Imperatriz – $2.40* –Best of the day
R8: Aft Cabin was super impressive winning first up over 1200m two starts ago. Can forgive his last start which saw him to plenty of work early from a wide gate. Matcha Latte is second up and is a danger here. He’s fitter and should be better across the mile here at Flemington. Zou Tiger has been prepped specifically for this race and if he’s at his best, should figure in top 4. Manzoice resumes after a 4 and a half month break and is a great look at odds.
Tip: Matcha Latte (Each Way) – $7.50/2.20
