All eyes will be on Race 7, as Nature Strip returns for the Group 1 Black Caviar Lighting Stakes.
Flemington:
Race 1 – BM84 – Wishlor Lass looks hard to beat in the first race of the day at Flemington. The 4yo Mare is unbeaten in all 3 of her runs to date, with all her wins coming on dry ground. Jamie Kah only helps, in her quest to make it 4 from 4. Beltoro could be a danger at odds, being a proven performer at the Flemington track in the past.
Tip – 12 – Wishlor Lass – $4.00
Race 3 – TCL Talindert Stakes – Wide open race this one. If Amur doesn’t get too far back early, expect him to charge late with JMac onboard for the ride. Extremely Wicked will likely set the tone early and lead, whether it can hang on will be the question. Scorsese looks an interesting one, with the 2yo Gelding placing in his only start at Sandown.
Tip – Scorsese – $8
Roughie – Hell Queen -$26
Race 5 –Tony Bourke Memorial – Annavisto looks prime and ready to take this one out after a significant break. The New Zealand mare looked excellent in the recent Cranbourne trial. Previously has won 6 from 12 as favourite but looks to be in the best shape of her career. Excelida is a danger, having one run under her belt since her break usually races well at Flemington.
Tip – 4 – Annavisto -$2.50
Race 6 – CS Hayes Stakes – Another wide-open race. Atrrition is coming off two wins at Geelong and Sandown yet, looks to be slightly short in a significantly stronger field, look for her to roll forward early. Elliptical was disappointing in his recent jump out, but should up a better showing with the blinkers on. Bank Maur looks hard to beat, just finishing behind the impressive Jacquinot in his last race and should be even better now.
Tip – Bank Maur -$6.00
Roughie – Bel Air – $22.00
Race 7 – Black Caviar Lightning Stakes – All eyes will be on Nature Strip, first up after a 15 week spell. If he is anything close best, which judging by his recently trial he is, he simply wins. He looked tired in his last two races after smashing the field at Royal Ascot. Coolangatta looks to be the main danger this race, also returning from a 15-week spell.
Tip – Nature Strip – $2.20
Race 8 – The Elms Handicap – Daytona Bay was only just beaten last start and will most likely start favourite in this race. Damien Lane jumps onboard Scallopini who placed as favourite in his last run on the Gold Coast and should be better this time around. Keep an eye on Uncle Bryn who resumes after a 14 week spell and has a great record, winning 3-5 when first up.
Tip – Uncle Bryn – $8.00
Multi :
Wishlor Lass (Win)
Nature Strip (Win)
Uncle Bryn (Place) – Odds – $24.00
