Horse Racing – Randwick Preview

Brody previews all the action from a stacked Queen Elizabeth Stakes day below.

Happy Easter Punters!

R3: The Waterhouse/Bott trained Autumn Ballet was far too good for them in her debut at the G3 Black Opal winning by 2 lengths. Has been kept on ice since then and looks ready to produce here again. Kimochi has been solid in both her starts, coming on from midfield to finish 1st and 2nd respectively, will no doubt be charging late again. Ethereal Star is more than capable of being in the finish, not often you see a young NZ horse brought over so respect must be given.

Tip: #3 Autumn Ballet – $3.10 * – Best Bet

R4: From 6 starts, Kayobi has 4 wins and 2 seconds and should prove tough to beat for Sam Kavanagh. Trialled well and should be in the finish with a good run. Acquitted looks set to be in the top 3 here, third-up and has won third-up before, loves a heavy track, winning 3 from 4 starts. Audette is more than a chance at decent odds, 3 wins from her past 4 starts and a proven performer on a heavy track.

Tip: #2 Acquitted – $6.50 **** Scratched
Updated Tip: #5 Kayobie – $3.50
Roughie – #2 Audette – $14

R5: With What You Need being scratched, Aft Cabin looks extremely hard to beat here with J-Mac on board, wouldn’t be surprised to see him smash the field. Zou Tiger comes here fresh from a 35 day let-up and should finish in the placings.

Tip: #1 Aft Cabin – $2.50

R6: The Freedman trained Pavitra has been prepped for this race and with no Prowess, should prove hard to beat. Should appreciate the rise up to 2400m. Arts looks a danger after a dominant win in the Adrian Knox last week. Fireburn will appreciate the rise in distance and I feel a wet track will definitely suit. Jolted a chance at decent odds.

Tip: #2 Pavitra – $3.50

R7: All the form stacks up for Cleveland to be the winner, should be better here second-up, drops in weight and rises in distance, only query is the tricky barrier 17. Last year’s winner Knights Order led the whole way and will look to do the same again here. King Frankel looks a genuine stayer and drops in weight, competed well in the Group 1 last start and more suited here.

Tip: #11 – Cleveland – $4.50

R8: Is the Queen Elizabeth Stakes going to be the two-horse race predicted by many? Dubai Honour is primed and ready and looks the one to beat. Trainer, William Haggas has the import absolutely flying after making a mess of the field at the G1 Ranvet. The whole country will be behind Anamoe in his Australian farewell race. What a superstar he’s been, and no doubt James Cummings will have him primed and ready. Unicorn Lion is an interesting one, The Japanese don’t often bring over horses that don’t win and is one to definitely include in the exotics.

Tip: #1 – Anamoe – $2.70

R9: Going to be hard to beat the former international mare Alcohol Free, trained by Waterhouse/Bott. Looks the class horse, only query is this is her Australian debut. Fangirl has been solid this prep without grabbing that win, if the track gets better throughout the day she will prove hard to beat. Sirileo Miss looks to make it a hat-trick of wins here, with both wins coming easily (5.5L and 4L).

Tip: #7 – Sirileo Miss – $7.50
