Brody’s Flemington Selections
R1: Hard to go past Veranskova to kick things off at at Flemington for the day. Has improved significantly of late and should find herself leading and tough to run down. Snapped is coming off a big let up and has the ability to take this one out, expect a late charge. Senaglia and Duchesss of Dorset both chances at odds.
Tip – #4 – Veranskova – $2.80
R4: Dry conditions will suit On The Lead, charged very late and only just missed last here at Flemington. Kallos has great form with this track, 3 weeks since his last run and should be around the mark when the whips are cracking again. The Bopper has the ability to blow them away when at his best, however has only raced at Flemington once where he didn’t place.
Tip – #3 – On The Lead – $6.00
R5: Wide open race here with plenty of chances. So Unusual is the standout for me, was held up and checked over 2500 at this track 3 weeks ago yet still managed to win. Big chance to make it 5 wins from 5 starts. The Richmond Tigers partly owned Soulcombe needs a win to confirm it’s Melbourne Cup favouritism. If he brings his Spring form here he should win but last two starts have been ordinary. All eyes will be on Goldman, smashed them over a rain affected track at Kembla Grange. Has only had the 1 start on a good track and never raced at this distance. Bit short for me.
Tip – #9 – So Unusual – $5.50
R6: Third up here, What You Need looks the class horse and should win. 2 wins from just at many starts with both wins coming by 4.5 and 3.5 lengths respectively. Benedetta looks the main danger as she looks to make it 5 wins on the trot, only query is the distance where she suffered her only loss of her career so far. If you’re looking for a roughie Kaygeebee fits the bill. Last start put up a great effort to finish second to What You Need and should be fitter and better for the run.
Tip – #8 – What You Need – $2.50, Quinella – 8/10
R7: The James Cummings trained Cascadian produced a huge effort in the All-Star Mile last week to finish second against Mr Brightside. Has produced before 7 days after and can see it happening again here. Nonconformist and it’s connections said no to the All Star Mile with this race in mind, should be perfectly prepared and enjoy the 2000m. Emissary will be around the mark, third-up and loves a good track. Steinem has 4 wins and 3 placings on a good track and nothings says she can’t produce the same here.
